Edi Trailer

This trailer was designed for a 12 year old girl with cerebral palsy. Her carers needed a new way of getting her to school and so requested a trailer that could be pulled by a bicycle, and which could also tolerate the bad roads of Malawi.

Work Projects at Sakaramenta, Malawi

Fun Teepee

The Fun Teepee was designed for a lodge and event venue in Malawi. An inexpensive small playground item was needed to cater for the toddlers that attend their playground. Inspiration was taken from Native American culture.

Climbing Wall

The realisation of a student's winning concept enabled his dream to come true. With standard components unavailable, the grips were a challenge to design. But the Climbing Wall has developed into one of the most successful playground products at Sakaramenta.

Luxury Playhouse

Customised playhouse designed for a private residence requiring a link bridge to a climbing wall. Designed and drawn together with designer Boris Van Lettow of Holland. A big dream and limited budget made this a challenging project.

Archaetrowel

Having worked as an archaeologist for a summer, I discovered the need for a trowel specifically designed for archaeologists, to help prevent RSI, repetitive strain injury. Resultantly for my final year degree project I tackled this issue with the Archaetrowel.

Phi Kettle

A winning team project for Sustainable Energy Ireland, SEI, now SEAI. A product creating awareness of sustainable energy was the target. Phi Kettle goes above and beyond this aim with its ergonomic and quirky design.

Opel Car Accessory

2nd place in an Opel team competition, this water bottle cooling system uses peltier cell technology to keep a refreshing bottle of water cool. The aim is to increase safety in the car by energising drivers whilst driving.

Trailers

Load carrying trailers and carts are popular products at Sakaramenta, with special commissions being amongst them. Two good examples are the MEGA trailer for carrying 1 tonne weights and a smaller trailer for carrying maize or water cans.

Hospital Trollies

Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, the largest hospital in Malawi, sought 4 trollies of 2 differing styles suitable for an ultrasound machine and CTG machines. Each trolley was tailored specifically for their needs and budget, with great success.

Globe Continent Print Set

A project to promote and celebrate multi-culturalism, the Globe toy was designed for pre-schools and shows the continents and the Arctic. Hidden inside are stamps for each continent for children to play with to learn and improve dexterity.

SS Bathroom Suite

A challenging project, all students were to design a bathroom suite using stainless steel. The subtle curves of the individual items lend themselves to creating a surprisingly attractive and less clinical suite.

Sustainable Design

Just short of going into production, this olive oil and bread serving set was nominated to be displayed in Porto's Design museum, Portugal. Neatly complex, Leboo adjusts and adapts to suit the needs of the users.
